  1. Summary of What the Bill Proposes to Do

The object of this Bill is to amend the Penal Code Act, so as to revise the penalty relating to the offence of theft of stock; and provide for matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing.
In specific, the Bill proposes change the penalty for stealing a bull, cow or ox, or the young of such animal from 5 to 15 years for first time offenders and 7 to 15 years for subsequent offenders to 7 years or more for first time offenders and 10 years of more for subsequent offenders.

Further, the Bill provides that A Court may, in addition to the penalties imposed under this section, order the restitution of stock or produce stolen in accordance with sections 179 and 180 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
